FUN! Are You Primarily: Audio, Visual or Kinesthetic? Find Out!

Do you know what your primary input channel is? You may think you do but you may also be surprised by the real answer.

Some people can experience an immediate shift in life with the dawning of a new perspective on things simply by becoming aware of their type of input channel.

Are you brave enough to find out yours? I’m going to warn you that you may not look at things the same way after you are made aware of this information. This is not a game, a magic trick, or something with a string attached. What it is, is a painless and fun exercise that will send you deeper into self-awareness.

The crazy part is that this exercise is so simple and very counter intuitive! I understand that in a lot of societies and cultures people are taught that dramatic results happen over a long period of time. I’m here to prove that in what I do, this is not the case. Thanks to NLP and my coach training I provoke the same change in a matter of hours that can take other professionals weeks, months to and sometimes even years to induce. Once you are made aware of how you are programmed to perceive your world, your perspective will change, and your behavior will naturally follow to some degree.

Once you have completed this exercise and received your answers I want you to think about how long it took you to change your perspective and view of the world. After this exercise it will become impossible for you to look at the world in the exact same way. Are you sure you are ready? Perhaps you are comfortable in your little bubble? If you are happy living in that bubble then I suggest you don’t rock the boat and stop reading now. However if you are interested in experiencing this, then I invite you to continue.

Everyone has a dominant input channel: Audio (hearing), Visual (seeing) or Kinesthetic (touch).

What we are going to do is discover yours.

Ready to get started? Ok this is how it works….

This is an interactive exercise, which means: you answer then I answer back. There is not way to cheat, and there is no right or wrong answer as this is a self discovery based exercise and not a test or a quiz.

Now, lets begin.

As you sit there staring at your computer screen, think about these three sentences:

1. Describe more of your present experience to me.
2. Do you understand what I am saying?
3. I want to communicate something to you.

Now that I know you have thought about those three sentences, go ahead and rephrase each one using your own words.

Do you get it? Good.

The last step is to post your rephrased 3 sentences as a comment to this blog. I will see your comment and then let you know what your primary input channel is and how you can experience the full benefit of your results.

There is great value in knowing this. Many psychologists and professionals charge big $$$ to do this exercise on clients - I’m offering it for FREE and for fun.

How To Choose A Life Coach

baby_life_coach1With so many people these days calling themselves Life Coaches the task of finding a real one is daunting. So finding the right Life Coach is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. A Life Coach can make the whole process either truly worthwhile or a total nightmare. The choice you make will determine your outcome, so be wise in who you choose. Here are some of the qualities you should look for.

Trust:
Working with a Life Coach is similar to making a new friend. Expect someone you can talk to easily, both on a personal and business level. A person you can trust and feel comfortable with, someone in your corner. You will be confiding in them, so if you don’t feel comfortable or if you have the tiniest doubt in their abilities, then find another coach.

Experience:
It’s also important to work with a Life Coach who has experience and who is very knowledgeable about what he does. How do you find this out? First, trust your instincts and, second, ask questions. The more questions you ask the more informed you become.

Ask the coach, “Why should I work with you? What sets you apart from all the other Life Coaches?”, “Are you certified in NLP?” What they say is important, as is what they say they will do for you. If you find the coach struggling with the answers, tripping over words, speaking too quickly, or if you just don’t understand what he / she is talking about, then find another coach.

When a Relative or Friend says they are a Life Coach:
Maybe you have a relative who is a Life Coach and you feel some sort of obligation to work with her or him. If you don’t, maybe your spouse won’t talk to you, or you’ll be disowned by the family or even cut out of the will. Don’t let this perceived family obligation looming over your head (guilt, guilt, guilt) force you to work with them, especially when you don’t trust them and know they don’t have the experience and expertise you really seek.

A trustworthy Life Coach is one that puts his/her contact information at the bottom of each web page, since they have nothing to hide. At the very least they make it easy and painless to get in touch with them and the good one’s always respond to an inquiry within 24 hours.

Final Thoughts:
Remind yourself that working with a coach is like finding that 1 in a million person that you can totally confide in and that is truly about your best interests and success. Remember, a real coach has no agenda except your. Your friends and relatives all see you in a certain light, deep down you know this, and with that comes an agenda. Not to mention, do you think you could get mad at them if they did something wrong, without feeling like you did something wrong? Why add more stress to your life? Because they’re family? Remember, “You’re the one paying the bill.” The object here is to improve YOUR life, not supplement theirs.

Demystifying Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) Can I really be reprogramed?

As you read these words you can let yourself relax…and slide into a state of mind where you find yourself imagining a life from this day forward without any: fears, phobias, insecurities, or self limiting beliefs. I bet it feels pretty good to imagine that. With Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) all that and more is possible.


Let’s start with taking apart the ‘N-L-P of NLP’ and put it into a form you can easily understand:

N = Neuro
Stands for how senses filter and process experiences before storing them in the brain.

L = Linguistic
Stands for how a person uses words and symbols to create mental pictures of those experiences.

P = Programming
Stands for how desired new habits and attitudes become ingrained.

NLP is the application of techniques guided by natural rules proposed for modifying behavior in achieving self improvement, self management, self control and more effective interpersonal communications.

In the area of self improvement a person can rid themselves of fears, phobias and self limiting beliefs through working with a certified NLP practitioner. When your mind learns how to let go of what is holding you back then the only direction you can possibly go is forward.

In the area of self management a person can learn to better control their emotions and responses to the various situations life throws at us. Imagine yourself speaking in front of 500 people and not even breaking a sweat or experiencing rejection and simply letting it breeze by with a ‘next in line’ mentality.

Is Your Body Language Sabotaging You? Congruency Is Key In Communication

body_languageWhat are two things that highly successful people like actors, politicians, and corporate executives have in common? The answer: solid communication skills and coaches.

Part of being successful in any area of your life rests in your ability to communicate and connect with that area; whether it’s people, a task, or even an abstract idea. Direct communication comes in many forms, so for this article we will focus on the ‘in person’ or as you might say ‘face to face’ form.

Face to face communication is perhaps one of the most complex forms. When two people are communicating in person there is much more going on outside of the spoken word. In face to face communication, some researchers believe that only 7% of the communication process is contained within the context of the spoken word and the remaining 93% is made up of body language, vocal tone, eye contact, energy, and facial gestures.

Many successful people know the importance of clear communication. Why do you think many persuasive politicians and successful business executives work with personal coaches? One reason is to make sure they are communicating clearly and being received in the way intended. In the world of linguistics and kinesthetics we call someone ‘congruent’ when their words match their vocal tone and body language. Congruency is what many successful people seek in their interpersonal communication and is why many hire NLP coaches. Deep down we all instinctively know that truly congruent people are far and few, and that is why we have a natural tendency to gravitate toward the congruent elite. It makes sense that congruent business people often rise to executive leadership positions and congruent politicians get elected.

Here is a simple way test yourself for personal congruency.   Ask yourself:  “When I communicate are my messages always received the way I intend them”? If you answered yes to that question, then congratulations because it seems  you are congruent, and if you answered no, then it seems that you should allow yourself to benefit from training to become more congruent.

Becoming congruent can be learned with a few simple steps. When you learn how to control the different parts that make up your communication experience as a whole,  then you can be sure that your messages will come across the way you want them to be received. FYI: I may write another piece on this topic in the near future. I’m thinking my next one will cover congruency in dating. Ladies, ever had a guy creep you out? Guys, ever creep a lady out? LOL That is almost always due to a lack of congruency. Anyways, more on that later. :)
