The Power of Well Formed Outcomes

May 20th, 2011

“Well Formed Outcome” is a topic that has been fairly well documented in the world of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP). The notion centers around having (just as the name implies) “Well Formed Outcomes” in your life.  On the surface it might sound simple, but as you look deeper, you’ll begin to notice that these still waters do run deep. With as much information available on this topic, you may find it surprising to know that few people actually use them, and even fewer know how to create them in a way that is beneficial Having Well Formed Outcomes can create more growth and prosperity in: business, our personal lives, relationships, fitness and so much more.

What’s the difference between Well Formed Outcomes and goals? With Well Formed Outcomes we are going beyond simplistic goal setting and into the higher levels of setting outcomes.

Unlike a basic “goal” that primarily deals with your conscious mind, a Well Formed Outcome works with your unconscious mind, as well as the related processes. By doing so, you will naturally begin to do the right things that move you toward your desired outcome.   Take a second now to think of an area in your personal life, career or business that you would like to update or change.  Now, consider how much smoother and natural it might feel supported by a Well Formed Outcome.

SNAPSHOT: WELL FORMED OUTCOME vs GOAL

Well formed Outcome:

- Specific
- Represents a goal developed
- Lends to clarity on how to be reached
- Activates Unconscious processes and drives

Goal:

- General
- Tend to stay in the conscious mind
- Lack clarity
- Fail to properly activate the unconscious mind

A Well Formed Outcome enables us to get really clear and specific by literally bringing in any pictures, sounds, feelings, words and anything else that would be part of that outcome.

A Well Formed Outcome should have the following characteristics:

1. It Will Be Positive – Always state your outcome in terms of the positive.  The mind will not directly process a negative. Therefore, keeping it positive is imperative.

2. Must Be Descriptive – Include in as much detail as you can with all the representations that would be included. You can start by answering questions like: What does this outcome look like?  What does it sound like?  What does it feel like?  What are the details?  Where is going to take place?  etc..

3. Keep It Within Your Realm of Control – Make sure your outcome is something within your control.  If you can’t control it, then it’s not a Well Formed Outcome.

Outcome based thinking is the ability to visualize the outcome of a process before beginning that process. It is the ability to set goals and keep them in mind all through the negotiation process.

World class athletes from all over the world use outcome based thinking to achieve top performance in their field. The best golfers visualize a shot before they hit the ball, the best football players imagine making a touchdown before it happens. Leaders and captains of industry use outcome based thinking to grow their businesses and become better at what they do.

Below and in order are the questions to ask yourself toward forming a Well Formed Outcome. Keep in mind that these questions can be applied to just about any situation and circumstance that you want to create a well formed outcome for. It is recommended that you have a sheet of paper on hand to write down the answers to the questions below.  This way, you will have your own Well Formed Outcome blue print.  Remember: Just as blue prints can be changed up as new ideas and information surface, so can Well Formed Outcomes.

1. What is the outcome / conclusion you want?

2. Are other people involved in this outcome?  If so what is their role?

3. What is the least I am willing to accept from this process?

4. What problems or issues could come up? (write down all that you think of)

5. DECISION POINT – based on how you have answered the above questions do you still want to move forward?  If so then proceed onto the following questions.

6. How will I deal with the problems / issues I noted above if they come up?

7. How will I know when I have achieved this outcome?  Be clear and descriptive because when you are finished it will feel good.  You will also have a clear path toward achieving the outcome you want which can make it hard not to smile.

Knowing the outcome in advance and how to achieve it is extraordinarily powerful. It’s easy to get excited knowing you have recruited and activated your unconscious mind and brought it into the process.  You may also find it equally exciting knowing that dreams can become reality when then they are well formed.

7 Areas To Pay Attention To For Extra Balance In Your Life

May 9th, 2011

Making choices are part of life and making choices in a way to promote a healthy balanced life can sometimes be a challenge. This comes from living in a world that is shrinking. Now-a-days we have access to more information then ever before which can make it more difficult to achieve a life of balance. It’s called information and choice overload. With that it becomes increasingly more difficult to filter what we really want from what we think we want to what we have trained ourselves to believe we want. Yes..that is a lot of want options right there but that is also being real..!

The good news is that we can minimize the pain, stress, and confusion brought on by today’s informationally and choice overloaded world. The journey starts with you! Below please find 7 key areas that by paying attention too and becoming conscious of, can ease life’s burden, and bring additional clarity to the dilemma of living a balanced life.

1. Faith in Yourself and Beyond

Voltaire once mentioned, “Faith consists in believing when it’s past the ability of purpose to believe.” Having faith in yourself and / or something beyond you will help to face even the darkest hours. Faith provides you with more peace, and a more open heart. It lights the dark tunnel and allows you to stroll forward courageously.

2. Set Priorities

This means answering the question “what is truly important to me now?” then organizing those things in order of importance. Work with a professional on this because sometimes what was important yesterday is not so important now, and may even further diminish into the future. Just as life changes so do priorities. To get started analyze what is important to you now. Once you begin the process you’ll start to notice that it can be a fairly big undertaking when you set out to do it right. Is it worth it? Absolutely, because if you’re not setting your own priorities then chances are someone else is / will.

3. Get Relaxation

Rest and sleep are essential to dealing with imbalances in your life.  Take time to set a sleep schedule and stick to it.  You’ll discover that you’ll be able to face a whole lot more after being well rested.

4. Develop Boundaries

Boundaries are bodily, emotional, and non secular barriers that keep us safe, protected and nurtured. Having healthy boundaries empowers us to say no and appeal to what we want into our life and keep out the “garbage.” Boundaries help to communicate to others and yourself who you are as well as what you love, care about, and value. Becoming clear on your personal boundaries is priceless, and something that many of today’s life coaches are trained to help out with.

5. Positive Self Talk – Not Negative

Balanced living requires balanced thinking. When negative self talk comes up, shut it out and focus on the positive. When you find yourself in challenging moments ask yourself then answer a question like “How do I know when I’m happy?” The simple act of answering that question will force your mind to access positive internal representations which in effect will not only change your mood but consequently end the negative mind chatter. Several techniques found in Neurolinguistic Programming are excellent for killing the negative defeating mind chatter and giving birth and light to positive self talk.

6. Decide to Take Control of You

At any moment in time you have the power of choice at your finger tips. Everything we do comes down to making a choice, even though sometimes it might not seem that way. Are you in a job that does not serve you? Choose to change that. Are you in a relationship that is only getting worse before it gets better? Choose to change that. Are you out of shape and miserable? Choose to change that. Are you in the middle of a transition in life and don’t know what to do about it? Take control and choose to change that.  The requirement here is having the willingness and then finding the courage to empower yourself to do what’s right for you.   To re-cap / sum up… Step one: acknowledge the cause of your discontent.  Step two: take action to change it.

7. Stay Organized

Along with having your priority checklist and plan, you’ll want to have things in your life organized to achieve balance. Your house and workspace will serve you better if it’s clear and organized in a way you understand. You’ll want to work off a “To Do” list that is realistic, and will provide you with clarity on what you will accomplish for the day.  Read books, hire a life coach and soak up those good ideas into your life. Do whatever you can do to get organized and keep it that way.

There are numerous paths that lead toward reaching a life of balance. Now in your possession you have seven of them. By now, you can see that it all begins with making sensible choices that serve your soul, and becoming aware of what truly makes you happy. Stress and confusion are not going away anytime soon on their own; so chances are that unless you consciously decide to take control,  like working with a life coach, then it will only increase and get worse.

Allow yourself to discover what works for you (not what others say – but what you say) and commit to doing those things often. Stay committed and focused and you’ll shortly begin to see that this is not only a pleasant concept, but a plan for turning a dream of a balanced life into a reality.

Potent Quotes to Think About for the Week

February 6th, 2011

“Freedom means you are unobstructed in living your life as you choose. Anything less is a form of slavery.”

Wayne Dyer

“We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.”

Winston Churchill

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, the education, the money, than circumstances, than failure, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company… a church… a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past… we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it. And so it is with you… we are in charge of our Attitudes.”

Charles R. Swindoll

Positive Thinking – Living Life To The Fullest

January 27th, 2011

*The above video comes from “The Secret”, and as I have never seen the movie I had to share this short video with you because it’s just so relevant.

Positive thinking is an attitude that expects good and favorable results. It is an attitude that admits into the mind thoughts, words and images that are conducive to personal growth, expansion and success in all areas of life, including business, your relationships and career. Have you ever wondered how to get this mindset and even more importantly keep it?   Imagine how much more wonderful your life, business, relationship or career would be if you learned how to move through the world from this magnetically powerful perspective.   To some it may not seem realistic, in fact even like something that is too good to be true.   That is ok for those, because everyone is on their own unique path in life, and you can’t expect people to value and place importance on what they don’t yet understand or connect to.  But if you understand or at least want to understand, and feel a spark inside of you that says “I’m tired of waiting and want to know what’s possible” then wouldn’t you agree that you owe it to yourself to take the next step…or not.  As always, the choices is yours.

Hope you enjoyed the video!

Balancing Your Life Workshop on December 12, 2010

November 4th, 2010

If you haven’t already heard, on December 12th, 2010 in Delray Beach, Florida at Simply Yoga I am leading a Life Coaching workshop that is going to be filled with powerful information and real hands on exercises.  You will get opened up and introduced to your blind spots thus providing you with the real power to make the solid changes in your life that you are after.

Perfect way to close out 2010 and get ready for 2011!

Could you imagine spending a couple hours on a Sunday to possibly affect the remaining  thousands of hours  left in your life? I agree, it’s something you may not have thought about like that, though I’m sure after you think about it more – it will make sense.   Sometimes it’s the small decisions we make like attending a 2 hour workshop or taking that extra minute to follow up with someone that can have the biggest impact on getting the results we want.

To add – in this workshop I’m including something extra that I have only given away in a workshop once before in the past.  The only hint you will get before you get the chance to experience it is that it comes from the world of NLP, which means it’s time tested and proven.  Can you imagine what it would be like to finally be able to just let go of past hang ups and self imposed limitations.  Now consider what it would be like to be able to take full control of your emotions at  the snap you finger and then all of a sudden see, hear, and feel things differently in the way that serves you best.  That’s a glimpse into the NLP technique you’re going to get to experience only at the workshop.

For now, that’s all.  The rest and more on Sunday, December 12th – 2010.  See you then!

3 Questions to Evaluate a Healthy Relationship

September 20th, 2010

If you’re dating someone or in a relationship here are a few questions you might want to ask yourself to evaluate the health of it.

Read each question below a couple times, think about it, and then answer.

1. “How do you feel when you’re around the person you’re seeing?”
2. “Do you trust that person?”
3. “Can you be your true self around that person?”

You would probably agree that answering ‘yes’ to all three of those would feel pretty good, and like something close to what you really want. Just as if you answered ‘no’ to any of them then you’ll probably agree that now might be a time to reevaluate your present situation.  If that’s the case then honor yourself by making sure to do it  before it’s too late.

By now you might be curious to learn how to never have to worry about or consider the possibility of answering a ‘no’ to any of the above questions again.

If so then here is a short answer / solution:

1. Know yourself
2. Know what you really stand for and don’t stand for
3. Know what you really want and what truly fulfills you

Figure those three things out and trust me, you will be on your path toward endless bliss. For some it might sound easy and for others not so easy, but either way you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. Now if you happen to be the kind of person who really understands the value of time (namely yours), and you can see the benefits in having a coaching hand along the way that will challenge you to stay on track and keep you focused, then drop me a line to find out more.

At this point, as you are considering your situation and the next step,  you probably have realized that those question also apply to other forms of relationships too like: personal, business and any others you can think of.

To quote a mentor of mine who I hold the deepest respect for:

“The enemy of change is the thinking that we have already made the changes we need to make”
Wyatt Woodsmall

Don’t fall into that trap. Recognize, rise up, take conscious action and start experiencing the kind of relationships you know deep down you deserve to experience. You’re worth it!

Coach’s Summer Road Trip & Adventure

September 6th, 2010

As you may have noticed I have been pretty quiet on here for the past few weeks and  trust me, there is a very good reason for that. Truth be told I was away on a road trip up the East coast with my significant other. Together from South Florida we traveled North to the Nations Capital where we explored lots of historical sites as well as places like the Zoo and the National Air and Space Museum. From there we headed further North to Rhode Island where we connected with mother nature in the ocean through some surfing and then from there onward to Boston and New Hampshire. In New Hampshire we camped for two nights and experienced muscle soreness like no other after persevering up the Huntington Ravine trail of Mount Washington.

Having been on many adventures around the world like exploring temples  in Bali, Indonesia to hiking deep into the Jungle of Panama, I still beleive that simple road trips when done right can be among the best.

For you, because by now you’re probably somewhat curious, I went ahead and posted a handful of pictures from the adventure below.

Please enjoy!

Secret to Lasting Weight-loss and Staying in Shape

August 4th, 2010

Have you ever battled with losing weight or do you know someone who has? It’s a health condition that is more common then you would probably think. And most people who battle with this issue fall into the category of serial dieter. If this is the case then we can bet that most, if not all of those diets have eventually failed. In fact research suggests that once we finish a diet we are more likely to put the weight back on. Does this sound familiar? Are you craving foods and have that compulsive desire to eat unhealthy things like cake and sweets and things that prevent you from losing weight and keeping it off. Have you had the advice from your doctor to cut back on the calories and the fat to improve your health and you just can’t do it? The chances are you have been successful in many areas of your life but just can’t stay on that healthy diet and lose weight no matter high hard you try.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to never have to worry about food again like a naturally thin person and wished that you could be like that? Have you ever wondered how certain people eat whatever they want and never gain weight? And have you also noticed that all those weight loss programs come down to diet and exercise and then more diet and exercise. But if you have done all that and still have a problem with achieving your weight loss and fitness goals, then what are you going to do? Well if you are ready to learn the real solution then keep reading.

The real solution is a lot simpler then you think and you won’t typically hear it from most personal trainers or dietitians because it starts with how you think and the relationship you have with yourself. If you think like an overweight or out of shape person then even if you get into shape at some point you’ll quickly revert back to your old self almost 100% of the time. This is very dangerous, because through the cycle of losing, and then gaining, then back to losing again forms a negative behavioral feedback loop. This loop will keep you trapped, feeling badly about yourself and enslave you to forever be investing in the expensive latest hope filled diet crazes and quick fix personal training.

Have you ever noticed that the people at the gym who are in shape are typically not the ones working out with the personal trainers.. Then have you ever noticed the people that are typically working with the personal trainers are the one’s out of shape, and you see them a few times to never see them again.. If you have, then suppose there is a reason for that. Suppose that if being in shape and losing weight is not about the action, then maybe the real answer rests within our thoughts and beliefs..

If you agree that the answer lays within your thoughts and beliefs then you will also probably agree that the way to avoid problems is to first address the issue, with that issue being your thoughts and beliefs. I bet you could imagine what it would be like waking up in the morning feeling complete and whole. Eating the right things because you want to, instead of because you feel like you have too. Then imagine going to the gym to work out because that is part of who you are instead of as someone trying to keep up with false images and perceptions. If you were able to imagine that then you should also be able to imagine living your life healthy and from a place of real balance, real understanding and real direction. You can do it, all you have to do first is allow it to happen. It’s easy to get excited when you think about it because it can make you feel really good.

What are my options you might be wondering? NLP based Coaching is a very powerful place to turn first. It’s a cognitive based approach that works (Landmark, EST, Tony Robbins, most Conventional Coaching models etc.. base a lot of what they do off of NLP…NLP in sorts is “the source”). With that being true, after coaching now equipped with the right mind-set, you’ll be ready for the quality personal trainers to show you the exercises and the experienced dietitians to instruct you on how and what to eat.

Now that you’re aware of what’s possible with NLP based Coaching, find your own reasons to give it a shot. Then get ready to experience those necessary changes and shifts in your life that will lead you toward allowing yourself to truly realize your fitness and weight loss goals; and have them take shape permanently.

Imagine A Life With More Self Discipline..

July 12th, 2010

Having self discipline means that you have a path to freedom and to more of what you want. Some people will naturally disagree with this statement because they see the word discipline as a negative, as something that you have to do, must do without choice. For people that see discipline as a negative word it actually becomes equal to their absence of freedom and choice; however if you have discipline in your life you will see a change in how productive you are, thus freeing up your time to do many other things. If you have self discipline it means you can act intelligently and not be led by your emotions.

We know that this may involve sacrificing something of pleasure that in the short term may cause you some discomfort. The long term results of changing the way you think and behave can have a tremendous impact on your success in life. These successes can range from your relationships right through to financial freedom. Having self discipline means we can focus on a new project with that initial enthusiasm. It might mean going to the gym and leading that healthy lifestyle or putting your socks and underwear in the hamper, to waking up early to focus on your dreams and goals, or even putting the toilet seat down after you finish, to perhaps staying up late to complete that project, or even just understand that you can change your diet because you want to.

If you struggle with self discipline the good news is that it can be both developed and embedded into all aspects of your mind and emotions. We use an NLP based coaching approach for this because it creates a powerful message for you to change and to use self discipline in all areas of your life. You will see a quick change in the way you think and feel about yourself. This change will relate to all areas of your life that you want to develop. Maybe it’s a new relationship, maybe making that special person in your life feel valued, or it could be starting your path toward financial freedom. Whatever you desire you can achieve it but you must have the discipline to start and then continue with passion and commitment.

Are you ready to start living with more self discipline even if you already have a it? If so, then call (305) 851-2459 today for a FREE 19 minute “Get Answers Now / Get Clear Now” consultation to find out if this coaching program is right for you. You have nothing to lose and will never know what can be without giving yourself a chance, you’re worth it, so call today.
